The bread and butter of San Diego’s video production community has commonly been the corporate/biotech companies. While the work isn’t the most glamourous, it offers a sense of stability and reliability. However, if one looks at the hallmark moments of any renowned production house, you might find that springboard that launched them to the next level was getting the attention of an Ad Agency.
Passage Productions is proud to announce two new agencies to our client roster: AM-Stratagies(one of the largest agencies in San Diego) and the Jayne Hancock Group. This has been a very exciting month. We have taken the preverbal “baby steps” with these companies as they have tested the Passage waters. Now the flood gates are open. It’s a wonderful feeling working with people in this industry that have vision , and appreciate the level of quality we put into every project we develop. We feel that offering the outstanding production value to these projects empowers these agencies to go to their clients and say “Sure. We can do that. But, we can also do THIS!”(insert stunned faces)
We will be posting some of these new completed projects in a few weeks on passageproductions.com.
The new 4K camera by red (an affiliate of Oakley) will set the standard for the next generation HD formats. Those who are hoping to settle down for the next 10 years with the HDDVD and Blu-ray formats will need to think twice before making that commitment. The “Red” camera shoots in 4520 X 2540 pixels which is almost 4 times the size of the most popular 1080 resolution. Passage Productions hopes to adopt the “Red” camera as our standard format, giving our clients the absolute best quality offered in San Diego video production. Who knows where this technology will lead? The possibilities are endless.
Paris Hilton in Jail isn’t the only good news today. We are announcing the near completion of the newest “Elan” video. This video is comprised entirely of green screen elements and compositing special effects. You will need to check it out on our website at www.passageproductions.com once the video is complete. Also, the Padres swept the Dodgers in and 6-5 win last night…It was an amazing finish to what I thought was going to be a sad end to the 2 game win streak. Go Padres!
We’ve updated our site with our latest projects and added a Client Login link from our homepage at www.PassageProductions.com.
Feel free to add a comment to this feedback forum and blogging section. Thanks.
As May comes to a close, the entire Passage Productions visual FX team is working triple-time to finish our latest music video project: “Made Myself Invisible” by the Latin supergroup Elan. This is one of the most FX intensive and visually stunning pieces Passage has undertaken this year.
As the name of the song implies, the theme is “Invisible”. Without disclosing too much until the video’s release, we will say that we are using several groundbreaking techniques to blur the line between visible and invisible.
Director Gulliver Parascandolo commented,”The toughest challenge for any director orchestrating such an effects driven production, is balancing the visuals and the message of the song. It’s easy to get lost in the visuals and forget that the song’s message is what’s going to connect with the audience. So everything you do should support the song. Not the other way around.”
This is the forth music video Passage Productions has produced for Elan. Passage’s previous efforts have been landed Elan on several top-10 music video slots, including a special Latin Grammy for the #1 Music video of 2006 in Mexico for “This Fools Life”.
You can see all the music videos we’ve produced for Elan at: www.passageproductions.com
Post-production of “Made Myself Invisible” should be completed the first week of June.
Honoring Bill Rastetter, founder of Biogen-IDEC, Passage Productions helped to present the CONNECT Hall of Fame Award. Attended by 700 of San Diego’s most influential business leaders, the Hall of Fame presentation included a retrospective of Rastetter’s contributions to the world of biotechnology through film, photo and video presentation. Congrats to Bill and CONNECT for another successful production.
Production wrapped on our most abitious music video project to date. The newest single for international rock group Elan ,”Made Myself Invisible”. With the cooperation of Sony Studios, Passage Productions shot the video entirely against green screen. Slated for release in early June of this year, this will be the 4th video Passage has produced for the Latin supergroup, and will be premiering on VH1, MTV2, MTV-LA, as well as overseas networks and websites.
In associaton with C.L.E.A.R., Passage Productions completes the documentary “The Clearwater Project”, an expose on water conditions at the Colorado River. Interviews were conducted with local residents and unique footage was captured by boat and plane using any number of guerilla tactics.
As it turns out, even giants like Sony Cinematics department sometime need help. Passage Productions was hired by Sony for two weeks, helping them to develop the new Playstation trailers for their electronics showcase in Las Vegas, NV. They’ll be releasing the work that we did for them soon, so we’ll be able to post the videos on our website. Talk about some crazy deadlines and long production days!! …but the final drafts turned out just great. Check our website for the updated projects.
